Evelyn lived in Wauwatosa most of her life. She married Lester Meno in 1935. They started a meat market/grocery store on North Avenue and were in business for 37 years. When health reasons caused them to retire, Evelyn worked part-time at a craft store. She always loved meeting new and old friends at her work. After Lester died in 1978, Evelyn continued her work, but also began spending time with her widowed neighbor Louis Barbeau. After ten years of friendship they decided to marry. They sold their homes and moved to Willow Brook Court in Brookfield, where they found many new friends. Louis passed away in 1998. Evelyn continued to enjoy Willow Brook where she was very proud of her work with the Wednesday night dinners. She was always happy to bake and share with her neighbors, play cards, run a football pool and go on gambling trips with her son-in-law. In 2014, due to her age and needing additional assistance, Evelyn moved to Regency in Brookfield. After health complications she moved to her final home at Franciscan Place.

Mom always said everyone treated her with such kindness. We want to thank all the nurses and staff at Franciscan Place for their wonderful care and also to Seasons Hospice; they were a true blessing to us.
