Obituary

Virginia P. Thorkildsen

(Nee Heerhold) Died peacefully April 4, 2012 surrounded by her family. Born March 23, 1924 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to parents, Paul and May Heerhold. Preceded in death by her parents, her brother Mike and her husband of over 59 years Orin, in 2008. Survived by her sons, Jeff (Debbie) Thorkildsen of Oshkosh and Jim (Rosey) Thorkildsen of Sussex, grandson, Brian (Staci) Thorkildsen of Oshkosh and cousin, Mary Ann Paulus of West Allis. Also survived by other relatives and many dear friends including Rose Brandenberg who helped Ginny in so many ways these past years.

Ginny was trained as a Registered Nurse, graduating from the Milwaukee County School of Nursing and worked until she started to raise her boys. Those special skills served her well as she cared for her family. Ginny and Orin enjoyed traveling and many fond memories and friendships resulted from special trips they took together to attend reunions of Orin's World War II Army Air Corps Bomb Group. Ginny loved to bake and wonderful desserts were among her specialties. She enjoyed sewing counter cross stitch, visiting sites of American Colonial History, gardening, bird watching and feeding the Cardinals and Chickadees, reading and volunteering at the hospital and Church. She was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Brookfield.

Donations in Ginny's name will be forwarded to the State of Wisconsin organization for dementia research.

The family wishes to thank in a very special way the staff at Arbor View Assisted Living in Pewaukee for their extraordinary care and compassion.
