Kenneth Edward Greve
"Well done good and faithful servant." Matthew 25:21.
The Lord called Kenneth Greve to His heavenly home on February 22, 2012 at the age of 90 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Grace (nee Bottcher) Greve; wife, Arlene (nee Keisler) in 2002; son, Dwight in 2008; sister, Viola Sabin, and brother, Edward Greve. He is survived by his children Dennis Greve, Lee (Wendy) Greve, and Gloria (Kevin) McGrath; by his grandchildren Scott (Jessica) Greve, Joshua (Danielle) Greve, Casey McGrath and Alison McGrath; and by his great-grandchildren Cameron, Noah and Elena Greve and Matias and Malachi Greve.
Kenneth Edward Greve was born on December 9, 1921 in Hampshire, Ill. He was baptized into the family of Christ shortly after birth and confirmed into the Lutheran faith in 1935. On November 10, 1943, Ken was joined in holy matrimony to Arlene Keisler.
Ken farmed in Hampshire until he heard the Lord's calling to serve Him. In 1964, after selling their dairy farm, Ken moved his family to Milwaukee where he completed his two-year course at Concordia Lutheran Lay Training Institute to become a lay minister. Ken and Arlene focused their ministry assisting the spiritual, educational and social needs of families in Milwaukee's central city. During their 33 years of ministry they founded Mission of Christ Lutheran Church at 912 W Center St. in 1974 and the SOS Center now located at 4620 W. North Ave. in 1982. Both the church and the center are continuing their mission of the Lord's work today. After retiring in 1999 Ken volunteered with several food pantries. On May 18, 2002, Concordia University recognized him as Alumnus of the Year.
The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorials be given to the SOS Center or Mission of Christ Lutheran Church.
