Obituary for Wilbur August Frederick Kollmeyer II

Wilbur August Frederick Kollmeyer II passed away peacefully surrounded by family on September 1, 2018 at age 82.

Wilbur was born in Indianapolis, IN on December 28, 1935. He attended Thomas Carr Howe High School and graduated in 1953. Wilbur served in the US Army from 1958 to 1960. Wilbur met his wife Sheron on a blind date in Indianapolis and they were married in 1961. That same year they moved to Madison, WI where they raised their family.

A devoted member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Madison, Wilbur was a long-time President and Superintendent of Sunday School. He was active in Optimist International and served as President in 1971 along with serving as President of his local chapter. Wilbur loved Wisconsin sports and was a beloved Badger Booster, Brewer & Packer fan. He was an all-star pitcher in the Madison Rec. softball league. Wilbur began his career with GMAC in Indianapolis and later worked as Comptroller and Office Manager for Thorstad Chevrolet in Madison until he retired after 35 years.

Wilbur is survived by his wife of 57 years, Sheron Kollmeyer (NEE Mosey) along with their children Will (Tina), Tim (Kitty) and Lisa; grandchildren Drew, Paige and Collin. He is also survived by his brother Kurt Kollmeyer, sister-in-law Mary Favors (NEE Mosey) and many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. Wilbur was proceeded in death by his parents Wilbur and Alice Kollmeyer (NEE Jeffereson), sister-in-law Suzanne Kollmeyer (NEE Straus) and brother-in-law, Bill Favors.

A service honoring Wilbur’s life will be held on Wednesday, September 5th at 11:00am at Brookfield Lutheran Church, 18500 Burleigh Rd, Brookfield, WI 53045. Visitation from 10:00am until time of service.
