Obituary for Mary Pinter Clemency

Entered Eternal Life on Friday, August 31, 2018 at the age of 88 years. She was the daughter of the late John Clifford and Lillian Pinter, and was born on January 24, 1930 in Chicago, Illinois. Mary attended St. Scholastica Academy in Chicago and graduated from Barat College of the Sacred Heart in June, 1951. She was married to Robert E. Clemency on September 10, 1951 and were married for almost 67 years. Mary was also the loving mother of five children including Robert E. Clemency Jr., M.D. (Marguerite "Ritie" Hoff); Mary V. Clemency, M.D., John C. Clemency (Catherine "Cappy" Clemency), Catherine M. "Katie" Clemency; and Anne C. Borman (Michael Borman). Further remembered by her brother John “Jack” (Elizabeth) Pinter.

She was the loving grandmother of sixteen grandchildren including Marguerite E. "Miggie" (Patrick J. McCurry); Robert E. III (Margaret Bon Durant); John J. (deceased), Peter H. and Charles P., children of Robert Jr. and Ritie; Brian P. (Tiffany Judice), Margaret T. "Maggie" (Jason Efthimiou), Bridget A. (Todd Spicer), John C., Molly C. (Timothy Hancock), and Anne E. (Alex Gernes), children of John and Cappy; Madeline A. "Maddie" and Daniel R. "Danny", children of Katie; and Catherine E. "Katie", Anne E. "Annie" and John R. "Jack", children of Anne and Michael.

She was the doting great grandmother of eighteen great grandchildren who lovingly called her Grandma Mary, including Marguerite J. "Maggie", Patrick C. "Patch" and Nora E, children of Miggie and Patrick; Robert E. IV, William K. and George J., children of Robert III and Margaret; Charles C. "Charlie", Megan P., and Tess C., children of Brian and Tiffany; Anne C. "Annie", Makenzie M. and Catherine M. "Katie", children of Maggie and Jason; Louis G., Sydney P., Quinn E. and Rowan C., children of Bridget and Todd; and Robert E. "Robbie" and James P. "Jimmy", children of Molly and Timothy.

In her final months of life, Mary was frequently visited and cared for by her children. She was particularly grateful for the extended visits of her daughter, Mary and for the many delicious meals prepared, cooked and delivered frozen from Minnesota by her daughter, Katie.

Mary was the love of Dad's life and was treasured by her children who always knew where she stood. Her grandchildren loved to visit her on Siesta Key and in her Wauwatosa home where she always had a caring ear for whatever was on their minds. She was highly involved in her children's education and often served as a substitute teacher. In the early seventies, she was President of the Mother's Guild at Marquette University High School. She often hosted dinner for various priests of the Jesuit community.

Later, she was a frequent hostess of tailgate parties at Notre Dame for her friends and her children's college friends who fondly referred to her as "Fun Mary".

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 5 at ST. JUDE THE APOSTLE CATHOLIC CHURCH, 734 Glenview Ave., Wauwatosa, 53213., from 10:30 AM until the Mass of Christian Burial at 12 NOON followed by a reception with family and friends. Burial will be held at Cedar Grove Cemetery at Notre Dame, IN. on Thursday, September 6 at 2:15 PM.
