Obituary for Glenda K. Herro

Glenda Katherine Herro passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on July 23, 2018 at age 66.

Glenda is survived by her husband and two sons. Her husband, Michael, and she were married for 43 years. Married in 1975, the two shared a lifetime of memories. She is the proud mother of two sons. Her eldest son, Nick, lives in Chicago, IL with his wife, Geri. Her youngest son, Alex, lives with his fiancée Austin Wagner in Waukesha, WI. Glenda was so proud of her family and often said that her “three men” were the light of her lives.

Glenda was the sister of John and Sonja Hendrickson, sister-in-law of George Herro and the late Allyson (Dwight) Will. She is further survived by countless nieces, nephews, other relatives, and more friends than she could possibly mention.

Glenda had a successful career in the music publishing business that she chose to leave to devote her life to her family. To her, there was nothing more important. She was an animal lover but her truest passion was horses. She spent as much time with her horses as she could, both raising and competing with them.

In 2014, Glenda was diagnosed with metastatic ovarian cancer. Faced with this, she chose to fight. For four long, full years, she faced her diagnosis with determination. She made it her mission to not let it define her or what she chose to accomplish. Her attitude during her fight was unwaveringly positive. During those years, she and her family traveled extensively, purchased a home and spent winters in Florida, witnessed the marriage of her oldest son, experienced the engagement of her youngest son, rode her horses daily, spent many nights and weekends with friends, and holidays with her family.

The world is a lesser place without her, but her impact can be seen in her family and the deep friendships she has created. Anyone who met Glenda could attest to her inspirational positivity and contagious personality.

Glenda’s family sends their sincere gratitude to the clinicians and nursing staff of Waukesha Memorial Hospital and Seasons Hospice for their exceptional care, compassion, and guidance. She received extraordinary care at their hands which contributed to the success of her treatment.

Visitation at HARDER FUNERAL HOME on Monday, July 30 from 10:00-11:45 AM. Memorial service at 12:00 PM. Private interment at Wisconsin Memorial Park.

Glenda was active in the fight against ovarian cancer. If desired, please consider a memorial to the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund Alliance.
